- Hubert Védrine is a leading French diplomat and essayist, who served as France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1997 to 2002. A close adviser to President François Mitterrand for fourteen years at the Élysée Palace, including as Secretary-General to the President, he played a central role in shaping and implementing French foreign policy. Drawing on his unique experience at the heart of international affairs, he has developed a rigorous and clear-eyed understanding of globalisation, power dynamics and their economic implications. Founder of his own consulting firm, he has advised major French companies for more than twenty years on global geopolitical, strategic and economic challenges. An independent board member of LVMH and author of numerous landmark publications, he is now recognised as one of the foremost commentators on the interactions between diplomacy, economics and the business world.
